Since November of 2003, Reverend Stanley R. Mathis has served as Pastor of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. A native of Dallas, Texas, he is the third of five children born to Queenie Mathis and the late Frank Mathis. He accepted the call to the gospel ministry in 1983 and was licensed in 1984. In 1986, he was ordained by the late Reverend Johnny Eades at the Greater Providence Baptist Church in Dallas. He has served as associate minister at several churches including Greater Providence Baptist Church and St. John Primitive Baptist Church of Dallas, Shiloh Baptist Church of Sacramento, California and, of course, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Alexandria.

Pastor Mathis is a graduate of Lincoln High School in Dallas, receiving his B. S. Degree in Elementary Education at Bishop College in Dallas. He also earned an M. Ed. Degree in Education from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. Formal biblical teachings that help to prepare him for this great calling include:  Biblical Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, Texas; Diploma in Basic Bible Study, Southern Bible Institute, Dallas, Texas; Biblical Studies, Southwest Theological, Fort Worth, Texas; and M.A.P.M. degree in Pastoral Ministries, Louisiana College, Pineville, Louisiana.

He is affiliated with our local district association, United Educational Missionary Baptist Association; our state association, Louisiana Home & Foreign Mission Baptist Convention, Inc.; and our national convention, National Baptist Convention of America, Incorporated. He is a board member of the Rapides Primary Health Care Foundation, Alexandria, Louisiana, member of Delta Chi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and president of South Alexandria Revitalization Committee.

Pastor Mathis is married to Linda Scott Mathis, and together they have five children and six grandchildren.
